Panther Pride, Take 2: $15,000 to go

Read-a-Thon kicks off on 2/14, and this year we will use this event as a FUNDRAISER to help us get to our budget goals for the year.  We are about $15,000 short on our Panther Pride initiatives.  Also, we are trying to get to 75% participation on our donation campaign – no amount is too small!  (If you’re among the 43% who donated already, thank you – participating in round 2 is at your discretion, of course!)

Three ways to donate:

  1. Student Council will be picking a school-related cause (on 2/5) for which we will hold a Coin Drive during Read-a-Thon. Check those couch cushions!
  2. Get sponsors for minutes read during the Read-a-Thon.  This is a great way to have friends and family help out.  You can use this letter to help ask!
  3. Donate directly to the PTO via check, cash, PayPal.  Whatever amount feels right for your family will be happily accepted.

Together we can reach our goals!

Bond improvements coming soon!

Did you know that our school will undergo a transformation this summer?  This morning Khaki Reed, our bond manager, spoke to interested parents at the principal’s coffee about how the process will unfold and what will be done at LES.

Couldn’t make it to the coffee?  Check out all things bond related here.

More than $6 million will be spent to upgrade LES.  Much of what will be done are necessary fixes/enhancements like roofing, windows, HVAC and asbestos abatement.  But there are many visible changes on the horizon as well  – playground upgrades, innovative classroom furniture and improvements to the cafeteria, to name a few.

Follow the construction process at the website, and ask questions anytime!

Support the PTO while you do your holiday shopping!

The PTO is only two-thirds of the way to its fundraising goal for the year. Did you know you can help the PTO earn much needed funds while doing your holiday shopping? There are several local businesses (and national websites) that will donate a portion of your purchases to the PTO. Here’s how:

King Soopers and Alfalfa’s: Don’t forget to use your King Sooper’s and Alfalfa’s gift cards every time you shop. Here is more information if you need a card.

Amazon Smile: Do your Amazon shopping from and Amazon will donate a portion of your sales back to a non-profit of your choice. To select the Louisville Elementary PTO as your non-profit of choice, go to

Grandrabbit’s Bunny Bucks: Local toy store, Grandrabbit’s, donates 5% of purchases back to local schools. Just mention the Louisville Elementary PTO when you make your purchase!

It’s Panther Pride Time!

Our Panther Pride officially kicks off NOW. Our goal is to raise $175 per child. All money goes to the school’s operating budget. How can you help?

1) Donate today. Write a check, use PayPal, send cash – whatever works for you.

2) Prefer to fundraise? Use Jog-a-Thon to raise money for Panther Pride!  Ask friends, family, neighbors to support your kiddos laps – and our school.

Your PTO raises about $90,000 annually.  Only 34% of the school’s operating budget is covered by state funding.  We cover the rest, allowing for things like:
Small group reading instruction
Teacher grants for classroom needs
PE and recess equipment
Professional development for staff
Classroom technology
Workroom supplies
Healthroom staffing
Scholarships for after school activities
School Garden
Field Day

… and so much more!

We strive for 100% fundraising participation in Panther Pride.  If we achieve 75% by October 5, 2018, our principal team with sing karaoke with the kids at lunch – this was a smash hit last year with our students!  THANK YOU for your help. Questions, email

Switching to PTO

During our PTA Meeting at 6:30 p.m. on February 22, we will hold a vote to switch from PTA to PTO status.  We need all of our voting members to cast a vote on this decision.  The primary reason for the switch is that there are fewer limitions on what a PTO can fund, and that more optimally suits our school needs.

The proposed by-laws for the PTO can be found here.
